PSHE – Jigsaw

Posted on February 24th, 2017 by brometadmin

What is PSHE Education?

PSHE Education is a planned programme of learning through which children and young people acquire the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to manage their lives – now and in the future.  As part of a whole-school approach, PSHE Education develops the qualities and attributes our children need to thrive as individuals, family members and members of society.

Bromet Primary School follows the Jigsaw Programme to teach PSHE to our children.

Jigsaw brings together PSHE Education, emotional literacy, mindfulness, social skills and spiritual development.  A variety of teaching strategies are used and we are mindful of each child’s preferred learning style.  Jigsaw is designed as a whole school approach, with all year groups working on the same theme (Puzzle) at the same time.  This enables each Puzzle to start with an introductory assembly, generating a whole school focus for adults and children alike.  There is a Weekly Celebration that highlights a theme from that week’s lessons across the school, and encourages children to try to reflect that learning in their behaviour and attitudes.

All the children took part in a variety of activities in their house teams for Sports Afternoon.  It was a chance for all the children to mix and show their support for each other.  It was lovely to see so many parents and carers come along to support the teams.  The winning house was Yellow House who hold the House Cup for the second year running.

KS1 were very lucky with the weather and were able to take part in a Multi-Skills Tournament.  Other schools from the local area joined us and a great day was had by all.  The children were supported by our Year 6 children who were excellent role models and encouraged the children to do their best.
