Robin Class Week 2

Literacy: Continue to learn our story ‘A mouse called Maisie’. We will be creating actions and thinking about the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of the story.

Maths: Shapes (2D and 3D shapes)

Topic: Planting seeds, making blossom trees and creating seed packaging. Our Garden visit is Thursday.

Phonics: Revision of Phase 3 with a focus on Tricky words.

Home Learning: a poster on who is special to me or a family tree. This will support us in the ‘Understanding the World’ aspect of learning.

Notes for this week

  • Reading Morning on Tuesday and Stay and Play on Thursday.
  • Miss Budwig joined us last week in Robin Class and she will be with us for most of the summer term.
  • Mrs Austin (AM), Mrs Warner, Miss Budwig will be in Class all day Monday as I am on a training course

Robin Class: Summer Term/ First Half Term

In Robin class, our theme will be ‘Plants and flowers’.

Our Roleplay is a Garden Centre and a Mini-Beast investigation Science Lab.

We will be visiting the garden every Thursday and this will be part of our Topic learning.

Where relevant we will be linking most of our learning to our topic. The children are also at the heart of our planning and changes will be made. Below is a brief outline of some of our possible learning activities. Check the website each week for current learning.

KS2 Choir

New school choir – sign up now!

The choir will be open to all KS2 children with no auditions needed. Rehearsals will take place at school on Thursdays from 3.15 to 4.00pm with Mrs Williams and Miss Langley Higgs.

The choir will provide a valuable opportunity for the children to develop their vocal technique and build confidence in their abilities, gaining knowledge of music theory and performance skills and, most of all, to enjoy singing together.

Can you help with the choir?

We are looking for a volunteer piano/keyboard accompanist for occasional rehearsals and termly concerts.

We would also like to hear from any parents who want to help with the choir in other ways, whether by supporting children’s engagement during rehearsals, contributing ideas or helping to organise concerts – no musical experience necessary.

If you are interested in any of these roles, or you know someone else who might be, please contact Miss Langley Higgs.

Week 10 Robin Class

Well done to the entire class for their wonderful class assembly.

This week we will be making books, counting and getting ready for Mother’s Day.

Our chicks have arrived and we are eagerly await them to hatch! When they have hatched we will have some in our classroom, our learning next week will be based around the chicks and the life cycle of a chick.

Pupil Progress Meetings are this week, if you decide to take the learning journals home please return them as soon as possible as we always making observation and update them regularly.

Our talent show on Tuesday was fantastic. The class voted for their favourite 2 acts to go through to the final on Friday. It was a tough choice for the class!


  • Thursday @7 pm Academy meeting in School Hall
  • Mothers day sale on  Thursday. £3 for a gift.
  • Non- Uniform day on Friday for Red Nose Day
  • A class raffle is taking place for each class to win an Easter egg.
  • Home Learning this week will consist of making a wonderful Easter Bonnet for our Parade next Tuesday. Due to this there will be no reading morning.
  • School newsletters are available on the school website under News- Newsletters
  • We finish School Next Friday (31/3/2017) @1.30pm
